Annamarie & Chaz’s Spring Garden Romance Wedding at The Powel Crosley Estate

Annamarie & Chaz’s wedding at The Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota, Florida, was every bit the spring garden romance vibe they had dreamed of—joyful, intentional, and overflowing with beauty. With a palette of ivy, white, ivory, blush, peach, coral, tangerine, and rose, every element of the day was vibrant yet timeless, perfectly complementing the romantic charm of the historic estate.

The couple, who have been together for five years by their wedding, first met in graduate school, but their relationship officially began during an annual medical mission trip to Guatemala. Chaz’s proposal was just as thoughtful and personal. “It was around Christmas time, Chaz wrote me notes every couple days and placed them in my Christmas stocking for me to find, and each one had a little code encrypted on it. One of them asked me to dinner to one of our favorite places. He took me out for an amazing dinner and when we came back, he had one final letter in my stocking and at the end of it got down on his knee and proposed! Also, the little codes in each of the notes spelled out ‘will you marry me.’”

For their wedding day, Annamarie & Chaz wanted the focus to stay on what mattered most: their love and the experience of the day. “When it came to wedding planning and what we wanted out of the day, we wanted to make sure the day allowed us to focus on each other and be able to be fully in the moment, without getting caught up in all the wedding formalities. We did not want to get lost in doing too much; we wanted our day to really allow us to reflect our love and relationship so we could just enjoy that.”

The waterside Ceremony took place under blue skies, with stunning florals from Arms of Persephone creating a lush garden atmosphere. “Arms of Persephone florals hit it out of the park—I am still not over it.” Gorgeous arrangements in shades of blush, peach, coral, and ivory framed the Ceremony and later transformed the Reception space. After the Ceremony, guests gathered indoors for Cocktail Hour in the Great Room of the mansion, where they enjoyed specialty cocktails—a cosmo and a Moscow mule—before transitioning to the open-air lawn for dinner and dancing.

The lawn Reception, set beneath the glow of the most beautiful sunset, was anchored by a king’s table style head table dressed in elegant linens from Linens by the Sea and paired with chairs from US Tent. The décor struck the perfect balance of sophisticated and inviting, and the smaller guest list created an intimate and connected atmosphere. “We were so excited to see what everything was going to look like all set up, and were absolutely blown away with how beautiful everything turned out.”

One of the most special parts of the day? “Everything was so amazing and perfect! But if we had to pinpoint, it would be having time to be just together and be in the moment, and sharing everything with so many incredible people. It was such a positive day.” The couple also cherished their decision to carve out a private moment after the Ceremony. “Reading our vows out loud privately to each other was so special and a big highlight for us.”

The Powel Crosley Estate was the perfect backdrop for this celebration. “I always had a dream of an all outdoor Reception that was not on a beach and I did not want the golf course. The Powel Crosley truly speaks for itself. The second we visited we fell in love. It made me feel like we were getting married in Europe. It was also great for guests, because it gave them something beautiful to look at and enjoy and explore.”

It was a true joy for MDP Events to bring Annamarie & Chaz’s vision to life. “I read lots of reviews, and I talked to a few planners on the phone but I really felt a great energy from Lauren [MDP’s owner]. I felt comfortable with her and somehow knew that I could go with them and not be overwhelmed. And I wasn’t, everyone was so great. I felt that you start your planning way sooner than other month-of coordinators which I greatly appreciated as well.” When it came to working with their planner, Annamarie shared, “I can't thank you enough. Erin, you truly are special!” We absolutely adored working with them and watching them dance the night away with their closest family and friends was such a highlight for our team.

Their advice to other couples? “Hire MDP for a start! But truly do not forget what the day is all about. It can get so consuming with friends, family, and all the events—it goes by so fast it is so easy to get caught up in it and not notice it go by. Take moments to reflect. I also recommend setting aside private time for you and the groom after the ceremony.” And for the brides with large bridal parties? “Highly recommend letting your girls have fun with it and pick their own dresses. The results will be stunning and they will feel beautiful as well.”

Annamarie & Chaz, thank you for your kind words and for trusting us with your day. “To us, our day felt like a dream. We could not have asked for a more perfect day.” It was an honor to witness and be part of such a beautiful, joy-filled celebration—we’re so glad you had so much fun!
