Modern Moody Whimsy: Styled Wedding Inspiration at Sage Restaurant | Sarasota, Florida
The inspiration for this shoot at Sage Restaurant in Downtown Sarasota, Florida, came from the main aspects of the color scheme! MDP Events really wanted to blend together sharp black tones with neutral colors and mauve pops. With lots of black and white being utilized in wedding trends, we wanted to give the vibe a bit more dimension with additions of acrylic details, whimsical florals, and gorgeous attire featuring simple style yet sharp details. We wanted to play down the pops of color in this shoot to allow for the smaller yet exquisite details to shine!
The color palette consisted of black, shades of pink and blush, whites, and neutral beige tones. We loved the high contrast of the floral colors and whimsical textures with the modern black bud vases and compote bowls. Sage was the perfect backdrop for this vision because of the dark wood tones and industrial elements. A main focus of this shoot was to show future and existing couples how a sweetheart table can evolve from a linen table with a repurposed bouquet into a show-stopping centerpiece where they will be seated for their Reception! With the clear pedestals, you can see how we repurposed the florals into the feet of the sweetheart table to create a more grand tablescape. Focusing on the small details—like the acrylic signage stating “Newlyweds” instead of a table number, mini wedding cakes to ensure the couple still gets to enjoy their dessert, and attire details including gorgeous gloves and a pocket square–style boutonniere—there was no detail left out.
The Hikari Arch from Posy Exchange looked gorgeous standing in contrast with the floor-to-ceiling windows of the 3rd floor event space at Sage. It brought a beautifully whimsical, dreamy element to the shoot. The tabletop rentals from Set and Styled included the flatware, glassware, and china, and graced the ultra-modern acrylic table from Palacios. The black bentwood ceremony and sweetheart table chairs also came from Palacios. Lily Bella created the perfect blend of moody and whimsy florals, with shades of pinks and beiges accentuated perfectly by the black bud vases on the sweetheart table. The cakes from CC Sweets were the cutest—we could not get enough of the black and gold cakes and were obsessed with the lacy details on the mauve cake. The tablescape was finished off with beautifully modern table numbers, place cards, and drink tags from Laconic Events.
Our sweet models looked absolutely stunning in their attire. The gown from Truly Forever Bridal fit perfectly and was complemented by gorgeous hair and makeup from Beauty Vibes Artistry. Stephanie Lanni Photography captured everything with stunning, fine art detail. Each photo flawlessly displays the editorial essence that MDP Events wanted to create!
